TROY, N.Y. - The Plattsburgh State women's tennis team traveled to The Sage Colleges Saturday afternoon, collecting a 6-3 win to improve to 5-1 on the year, while the loss puts Sage at 5-2.
The Gators took first through third singles as sophomore Kirsten Ackerman defeated senior Rachel Hodnett, 6-3, 6-3. Ackerman remains unbeaten on the year in singles this fall as a Gator, while riding a 10-match singles' win streak dating back to last season.
Emily Carlin defeated Christina Kroder at fourth singles, 6-0, 6-0. Caitlin Belladone and Meghan Ryan also earned victories at fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
Senior Isabella Perricone collected the Gators' lone other win on the day as he tallied a 6-1, 2-6, 10-7 win over Cardinals sophomore Stephanie Omlin.
Senior Jessica Paquette teamed at No. 1 doubles with Engebrecht for Plattsburgh State, earning an 8-4 win over Sage's Riley and Pericone. Belladone and Hodnett picked up an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles while Stephanie Omlin and Sam Fasciano cruised to an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles.
The Cardinals will wrap up the weekend with a match tomorrow at RPI scheduled for 11 a.m.
