FREDONIA, N.Y. – Mark Constantine of the Plattsburgh State men’s hockey team has been named State University of New York Athletic Conference Player and Rookie of the Week, for the week ending Feb. 26.
Constantine earns two honors this week after playing a crucial role in Plattsburgh’s 4-3 win in triple overtime Saturday, finishing the night with three points. The Cardinal freshman netted the game-winning goal of 11:07 of the third overtime to secure Plattsburgh a spot in the SUNYAC Finals and end the second-longest game in Division III hockey history.
The Haddonfield, N.J. native also assisted on the first Cardinal goal, a power-play goal at 3:23 of the second period, and on the second goal of the night later that same period. This week’s honors mark the second time this season Constantine has been named Rookie of the Week (Oct. 31).
Plattsburgh will travel to Oswego for the SUNYAC Championship game Saturday at 7 p.m.
