PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. – The Plattsburgh State women’s tennis team will look to end the season on a high-note with a strong outing this weekend at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women’s Tennis Championship at the Binghamton Tennis Center in Binghamton, N.Y.
The tournament kicks off today at 1 p.m. and wraps up Sunday at 2 p.m. with the championship match. The winner of the tournament earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tennis Championships in the spring of 2013.
The Cardinals wrapped up the regular season with a 7-3 record and enter the tournament with their best record since the 2001-02 season. Plattsburgh State clinched the second seed in the SUNYAC Eastern Division after going 2-1 in conference play. New Paltz claimed the top seed in the East while Geneseo sits atop the West Division with perfect 3-0 records.
Plattsburgh will begin tournament play tonight at 7 p.m. against the third seed from the West Division, Fredonia State. The winner will play tomorrow at 5 p.m. while the loser falls into the consolation bracket for an 11 a.m. match tomorrow.
