FREDONIA, N.Y. – Kyle Norchi, Nick Travers and Charlie Dullea of the Plattsburgh State men’s lacrosse team were honored Monday as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) announced its 2011 All-Conference Teams. This marks the fourth straight season the Cardinals have had a school-record three All-SUNYAC selections.
Kyle Norchi is the only four-time All-Conference player in school history and the first Cardinal to receive first team honors since 2000. A senior attackman out of Hauppauge, N.Y., Norchi led the Cardinals with 51 goals and 18 assists for 69 points. He finishes his four-year career as the program’s all-time leading scorer with 282 points and his 198 career goals solidifies Norchi as one of the top 20 goal scorers in the history of Division III men’s lacrosse.
Midfielder Nick Travers received a spot on the All-SUNYAC Second Team. In his first year with the Cardinals, Travers tallied 18 goals and 13 assists for 31 points - fourth-best in team scoring. The sophomore of Smithtown, N.Y. also scooped up a team-high 66 ground balls and won a team-best 54 faceoffs.
Charlie Dullea was one of four freshmen to receive all-conference recognition. Dullea was an honorable mention pick, scoring seven goals and adding four helpers in 16 games for the Cardinals. The Brasher Falls, N.Y. native had 33 groundballs and 24 caused turnovers.
