Women's Hockey Tops Buffalo State, 4-1

BUFFALO, N.Y.
– Four different Cardinals each scored a goal as the Plattsburgh State women’s hockey team defeated Buffalo State, 4-1, in ECAC Women’s West play earlier today.  With the win, Plattsburgh improves to 11-2-1 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

Teal Gove got Plattsburgh going with a power play goal at 8:37 of the first period.  Helen Giroux added her fifth of the year at the 13:45 mark to put the Cardinals up by two.

Chelsea VanGlahn and Amber Welch each netted goals in the second period, stretching the Plattsburgh lead to 4-0.

The Bengals escaped being shutout with Marissa McMullan unassisted goal at 4:37 of the third period.  

Steph Moon was the only Cardinal to register multiple points, picking up three assists in the victory.

Plattsburgh held a 47-20 advantage in shots.  Sydney Aveson turned away 19 shots in between the Plattsburgh pipes.  Bengals goaltender Alyssa Koniar recorded 43 saves.

The two teams will return to the ice tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. to wrap up their weekend series.
