Men's Hockey 2010-11 Schedule Announced

Plattsburgh will host PrimeLink, Cardinal Classic tournaments

PLATTSBURGH, N.Y.--The Plattsburgh State men's hockey schedule for the 2010-11 season includes the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout and Cardinal Classic tournaments, Athletics Director Bruce Delventhal released on Monday. Details about season ticket sales will soon be announced.

The 25-game docket, which doesn't include an Oct. 22 home exhibition against an undetermined Canadian opponent, includes 16 home dates.

Plattsburgh begins the season with four straight road games versus State University of New York Athletic Conference opponents: Geneseo (Oct. 29), Brockport (Oct. 30), Cortland (Nov. 5) and Oswego (Nov. 6).

The Cardinals' official home opener will be Nov. 13 when they host SUNYAC foe Morrisville.

Plattsburgh will be the site of two in-season tournaments: the PrimeLink Great Northern Shootout (Nov. 26-27) and Cardinal Classic (Dec. 31-Jan. 1). The Shootout field also includes Middlebury, Saint John's-Minnesota and Norwich, while the Classic will feature visiting teams Neumann, New England College and Curry.

The Classic is the start of a 10-game homestand--Plattsburgh's longest since a 14-game stretch to end the 1991-92 NCAA championship season.

The Cardinals will end the regular season on the road with SUNYAC games at Morrisville (Feb. 5), Buffalo State (Feb. 11) and Fredonia (Feb. 12) before hosting Potsdam on Feb. 18 for Senior Night.

Twenty-four of 27 players are expected to return off the 2009-10 squad that went 19-6-4 overall, 13-2-1 in SUNYAC for second place, advanced to the SUNYAC Championship for the 19th year in a row and reached the national tournament semifinals.
